SANTA ROSA — Middletown High School”s Amber Preusser finished sixth in the girls” open 100-meter dash on Saturday during the Viking Invitational at Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa.
Kelseyville and Middletown were well-represented at the meet, which brings together many of the top track athletes from the small- and large-school ranks in the Redwood Empire as well as parts of the Bay Area.
Preusser posted a time of 13.97 seconds and her sixth-place finish matched teammate Myles Moffat”s sixth-place finish in the boys” high jump as the best of the day by a Lake County athlete. Moffat cleared 40 feet, 11 ? inches.
The best performance by a Kelseyville athlete belonged to Amanda Horne, who not only finished seventh in the 400 (1 minutes, 2.20 seconds), but also 10th in the 200 (27.89). Her teammate, Chelsea DeJohn, added a ninth-place finish in the triple jump (30-3).
Other top girls” finishers were Emily Beckwith of Middletown, 11th in the 100 hurdles (18.57); Kelsey Welton of Middletown, 14th in the 300 hurdles (54.20) and 24th in the 1,600 open run (6:07.73); Middletown”s Katy August, 17th in the 300 hurdles (55.86); and the Kelseyville 4×100 relay team, ninth in 54.96.
Other top boys” finishers were Kelseyville”s Ivan Rodriguez, 12th in the 200 (23.70); Kelseyville”s Michael Allen, 15th in the triple jump (37-9 ?); and Kelseyville”s Eduardo Ledesma, 22nd in the 800 (2:12.27).
Kelseyville travels to Calistoga on Wednesday for its final Coastal Mountain Conference regular-season meet, and Middletown travels to Lower Lake to close out the regular season. Both meets begin at 3:30 p.m.
