LAKEPORT — Would you like to see your work on display in the community? The Lake County Arts Council”s Art in Public Places is a program offering local professional and non-professional artists an opportunity to display their works in high-visibility locations in Lake County. The artwork may include oils, acrylics, photographs, and mixed media, all of which have been securely prepared for hanging. The program can only accept artwork that can hang.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. only, on Thursday, May 15, Lake County Arts Council staff will be receiving work in the main lobby of the Lake County Courthouse. All works received will be hung in the courthouse as space allows and also Lakeport City Hall on Park Street.

Another location for Art in Public Places is the Lake County Visitor Center in Lucerne. If you are interested in hanging at this location, please call the office and request more information.

Thursday, Jan. 17, is also the only time for picking up artwork from the prior show. This new exhibit will show through Thursday, Sept. 18. The LCAC will handle art sales through its gallery. Artwork in these exhibits should not be removed without notifying the LCAC beforehand.

Art in Public Places welcome new exhibitors. There is a small fee of $1 per piece to enter your work and there will be a 20 percent commission paid to the Lake County Arts Council by members and 30 percent by non-members should any work be sold. Work may be for sale or just to show. Membership is not required, but the LCAC encourages all those interested to become committed members and financial supporters.

All kinds of artwork are enthusiastically invited, but experience shows that smaller canvases nicely framed with a subject matter relating to Lake County are the best sellers and are well suited to the Art in Public Places program.
