KELSEYVILLE — A motorcycle accident resulted in severe injuries to a Nice woman Saturday evening.

According to CHP, a group of about six motorcycles were congregated in the Kit”s Corner parking lot shortly before the accident occurred at about 5:30 p.m.

Earl Steptoe of Nice, 47, was riding his 2003, special-construction chopper motorcycle, headed eastbound on State Route 281 just east of Highway 29. He pulled out of the Kit”s Corner parking lot, followed by Denise Romine, 43, of Nice. Romine was riding her 2000 Harley Davidson Sportster.

“As they were pulling left, she looked back at other riders and was going faster than the one in front of her. They collided and they both fell,” CHP Officer Adam Garcia said.

He said both bikers were traveling at speeds under 25 mph.

Steptoe sustained minor abrasions. Romine suffered severe, non-life threatening injuries, including injuries to her jaw. Romine was taken by Kelseyville Fire Department ambulance to Sutter Lakeside Hospital where she was treated for her injuries.
