LAKE COUNTY — The Lake County Record-Bee is once again sponsoring a
Father”s Day essay writing contest featuring a first-place prize of a free guided fishing trip on Clear Lake.
The contest is open to all Lake County youngsters currently in grades three through eight. All you have to do is write an essay of 300 words or less and tell us why you think your father, mother, grandparent or an adult important in your life deserves to win.
The winning youngster and the subject of his essay will be escorted on a guided fishing trip on Clear Lake with well-known bass fishing professional Mark Crutcher of Lakeport.
Crutcher, a California Highway Patrolman, is rated as one of the top tournament pros in Northern California. He has won four bass boats, more than 20 team tournaments and has been named Angler of the Year four times during a 15-year career.
The trip itself will not be on Father”s Day but on a day the winning essay writer and Crutcher agree to.
The winning essay writer also receives a new Shimano rod and reel compliments of the Tackle It tackle shop in Lakeport. Ed Clarke, owner of Tackle it, also will award two runner-up essay writers a new rod and reel.

When submitting your essay, be sure to include your name, age, grade and school you attend, home address, telephone number, and the person you want to take fishing. Only one entry per youngster and the entries must reach the Record-Bee no later than June 11. The winners will be notified by telephone a few days later.
