Well, duh. We knew a long time ago that the farmers were making a mistake by jumping on the vineyard train. It was really confirmed when we saw orchards started en mass in the valley, because they knew it was more lucrative ? especially since Lake County was hell-bent on self destruction in the money scramble, like Fresno.
The redundancy of the vineyards is less appealing than orchards aesthetically, and add to the “Lake County is full of drunks” image. Many jokes are made about that on the “outside.” At least orchards tend to blend in with the National Forest concept and outdoor sports which Lake County could ? with some common sense and restraint ? make into an area desirable tourists would frequent.
Desirable meaning no beer can throwing, fighting, littering noisy, or rude. We should have more and better bike lanes, intermittent hiking trails, fewer houses on the lakeshore, hillside houses should be required to be unobtrusive, roadside flora should be thinned, but present-not stripped away.
Also, there was a person who was upset about the anonymous nature of the newspaper forums. Although it can be frustrating if attacked, on the other hand it allows for retaliation free speech for those wishing to whistle blow without their bosses, or HOA finding out who it was and taking punitive action consciously or subconsciously.
It is actually how the Soviet Union collapsed as they couldn”t stop the computer traffic and technology and when the people decided to rebel. The information traveled faster than the Soviet rule could stop and contain. Therefore, more and more people rebelled since they couldn”t be lied to about the magnitude of the rebellion.
