LAKE COUNTY – Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) will be bringing multi-media presentations to students throughout Lake County this month.
Several programs are scheduled throughout the county that will educate youth of the consequences of driving while intoxicated and other harmful activities.
MADD will present its three-screen multi-media program at several area elementary, middle and high schools beginning May 19. Presentations are specifically designed to capture the attention of the age group it is presented to.
“This is a great thing for Lake County students,” said Konocti Unified School District Safety Coordinator Harriet Rogers. Rogers was able to coordinate the shows at no expense because the booking of 10 shows met qualifications for a MADD grant, which is covering the cost.
High school and middle school students will be viewing “Broadband.” Broadband is a fast-paced show in which real teens and real families tell their stories.
The show takes place inside a computer using the latest in graphic design to create a cyber-world students can relate to. Teens talk openly about the pressures of substance use, the realities of teen driving and the role the media plays in influencing their decisions.
Team DUI will be contributing to the programs, providing introductions of the MADD presentations. MADD will be at East Lake and Lower Lake elementary schools on Monday, May 19; Burns Valley Elementary School. Lower Lake High School and Carle High School on Tuesday, May 20; Pomo Elementary School and Oak Hill Middle School on Wednesday, May 21; Riviera Elementary School on Thursday, May 22; and Clear Lake High School and Terrace Middle School on Friday, May 23.
