CLEARLAKE–The Clearlake City Council sounded like Twisted Sister Thursday saying “We”re not going to take it, anymore” when it handed down $22,500 in administrative penalties for failure to abate. The council levied fines totaling $6,703 against three additional properties for abatement costs and began administrative procedures to abate on another property as well.
The council was lauded for its quick action in addressing the matters. Many of the penalties handed down in the recent past have been against properties that were the focus of Code Enforcement for many months, even years. Actions taken May 8 involved properties that have been out of compliance for just a few months.
“It”s great to see that the city is caught up on this stuff. Some of these things are only six months old,” said Second District Supervisor Jeff Smith. “Congratulations to the chief (of police) for getting this done and in such a timely manner.”
Administrative penalties in the amount of $2,500 apiece were levied against the following:
15945 30th Avenue, APN No. 041-167-300; property owners Deloy and Judy Gibson.
