LAKE COUNTY — Four juniors and six seniors are candidates for the 2007-08 Record-Bee Athlete of the Year awards, which honor the top male and female high school athletes in Lake County.

This year”s finalists among the boys are seniors Tyler Hayes and Erik Jameson of Clear Lake High School, Jake Sanders of Lower Lake High School, and juniors Mike Duman of Kelseyville High School and Eric Tomko of Middletown High School.

Girls” finalists are seniors Julie Jackson of Clear Lake, Allyson Brown of Kelseyville and Zoe Everett of Middletown, and juniors Kaila Sterbank of Clear Lake and Kelsey Welton of Middletown.

Athlete of the Year candidates must be juniors or seniors who compete in a minimum of two varsity sports and who are in good academic standing at their respective schools.

Athlete of the Year is not a career achievement award and only takes into account accomplishments during the 2007-08 sports season. GPA is also not a factor.

All-League honors (MVP, first team, second team, honorable mention) and feedback from coaches in the sports the athletes participate in are primary factors in selecting the male and female Athletes of the Year, which will be announced late next month along with Coach of the Year winners in boys” and girls” sports.
