LAKEPORT — Noel McCormack Jr. outlasted the field to win the 50-lap Late Model main event Sunday night at the Lakeport Speedway, capping two nights of racing action during the Memorial Day doubleheader on the quarter-mile paved oval.
McCormack took the checkered flag in front of Jeremy Hopkins — Saturday”s main event winner — Jarred Beddow, John Dalerio and Jimmy Stillman.
In Saturday”s main event, Hopkins beat Kevin Ostern, Mike Lovell, Charlie Collins and Jimmy Stillman to the finish line.
In the modified division, David Furia set a track record with a 12.431-second qualifying lap and went on to finish third in the main event behind winner Mark Marek and runner-up Mike Smithhart. Rick Rose came in fourth and Richie Potts rounded out the top five.
In mini-stock action, Dale Balmer took the checkered flag in the main event in front of fast qualifier Robert Schmidt (13.709), Don Pressler, John Johnson and Davey Coyne.
In street stock action, Scott Sabol broke the track record during qualifying with a 13.308 lap and he also won the second heat race, but it was trophy dash winner Kyle Medina racing to victory in the main event. Eric Johnson, Wade Coleman, Andy Vander Veer and Mike Bray followed him across the finish line, with Sabol settling for sixth.
In the bomber division, fast qualifier George Abella (14.601) claimed the second heat race before going to win the main event in front of Roman Rose, Gary Collins, Jon Waner and Jimmy Sorrels.
Slow dashes were held in several of the divisions and the winners were Eric Williamson (Late Models), Danny Bishop (modifieds), Jason Pratt (mini-stocks) and Andy Norton (bombers).
Racing resumes Saturday with the Legends Cars and Bandoleros joining the Late Models, modifieds and bombers.
