I suggest the residents of Clear Lake Riveria get informed. They, like others, believe the County should do everything for them.
At one time, I too did not understand that the gas tax from the State was the funding for our roads. This tax has not changed and is about $. 18 cents of every dollar of which the County gets only a portion to fix over 612 miles of roads. I went to the Department of Public Works and asked questions instead of passing on information that was incorrect. If they think the County maintained roads are bad, go to the City of Lakeport or The City of Clearlake which has their own road maintenance and you will know how good we have it.
Instead of saying, what can the County do for us, ask “What you can do for yourselves.” Buckingham, Riveria West, and Riveria Heights stepped up to the plate and got their roads in shape via the Benefit Zone Program. They recognized they did not want the property values to diminish. The cost to the Buckingham residents was close to $1000 per parcel owner over 5 years. The Clear Lake Riveria is less and they are squawking. Get over it.
Now, moving on to the weed abatement. Did they ever give thought to their liability? If an unkept parcel were to catch on fire, due to the lack of clean up or compliance, and caused damage either to vegetation or structure, of another person”s property, that person could sue them along with the Home Owners Association for not complying to the CC&R”s which all owners agreed to when they bought property in that subdivision.
