LAKE COUNTY – A preliminary hearing is set for June 27 for a former Shannon Ridge Winery bookkeeper arrested on an embezzlement charge, according to Lake County Chief Deputy District Attorney Richard Hinchcliff.
Michelle Lynn Davis, 23, turned herself in to the Lake County Sheriff”s Department in January on a warrant issued by Superior Court Judge Richard C. Martin. The charge carries special allegation that the amount was more than $150,000.
Davis was arraigned in March after she posted $20,000 bail and was released.
Lake County Sheriff Rodney Mitchell said in a January statement that the winery reported the alleged embezzlement in December 2007 after discovering “a number of irregularities in their accounting.”
Examples included “suspicious charges to a company credit card and canceled checks that did not match the checkbook ledger,” and is alleged to have begun a year prior to Davis” arrest, according to Mitchell.
