LOWER LAKE — Konocti Adult School graduated 75 students on Tuesday during a ceremony held at Sadler Stadium on the Lower Lake High School campus.
Master Teacher Scott Clydestrom, standing in for director John Wellman, who was suffering from laryngitis that evening; served as Master of Ceremonies. Clydestrom provided introductions of school board trustees and district administration prior to sharing statistics related to this year”s graduates.
According to Clydestrom, Konocti Adult School students logged 28,000 student hours this year and 140 new voters were registered. Clydestrom said over the past five years, Konocti Adult School has registered six percent of the local voter population.
Clydestrom commended the students for achievements with special recognition for the mother/daughter duo, Ashley and Kathryn Page, who both graduated on Tuesday night. He also welcomed Corrine Clifton, who he said is currently in nursing school and came back from Reno to graduate with her fellow schoolmates.
Site Principal Bill MacDougall addressed the students, placing emphasis on continued education. “For some of you this is the fulfillment of 13 years of work and for some of you it is many, many more,” MacDougall said. “Please keep moving forward and don”t remain stagnant.
