LOWER LAKE — Richard H. Lewis School honored 11 graduates ? its largest graduating class that site staffers could remember ? with a ceremony on Wednesday.

Director/teacher Rick Evans welcomed 25-year Konocti school board member Richard H. Lewis, who has been a long-time supporter of the school. Evans also expressed appreciation for the Board of Trustees and departing Superintendent Dr. Louise Nan.

Although 10 graduates were present at the Lower Lake Historic Schoolhouse Museum, Lewis School also honored a student who had graduated early.

This brought the number to 11 in Richard H. Lewis School”s graduating Class of 2008. Staff member Theresa Copas reported to the newsroom that ? This is the largeset number that we remember. ?

School board President Herb Gura had the honor of presenting diplomas to each of Lewis School”s graduates. ? Not only have these students earned a high school diploma, they did so in a unique way, ? Gura said, explaining that the independent-study students at Lewis School are self-motivated. ? They ask us only for the basic tools they need ? and they accomplish the rest. ?

As with previous ceremonies, this year”s celebration included a video that showcased each graduate.

Carle High School”s student enterprise, Pegasus Promotional Products, created special plaques displaying pictures and names of every member of Lewis School”s graduating class. Each of the Lewis School graduates received one of these plaques.

Richard H. Lewis School”s graduating Class of 2008 includes Ashley Nicole Andrade, Charles Nicholas Barron, Adam Jeremy Brown, Tirzah Jenea Hartzell, Morgan Kristelle Key, Cynthia Jimenez Maciel, Brianna Lyn Norton, Maria Jimenez Ramos, Bram Maxwell Schoeffler, Samuel David Sheridan and Tye Wolfe Taylor.
