SAN JOSE — The Middletown Mat Rats wrestling club sent five of its members to the California USA Wrestling Championships last weekend in San Jose and three came away with medals.
Wyatt Jones, 10, finished second in the 112-pound weight class and teammates Blake Fredrickson, 7, and Trevor Morrison, 7, secured sixth-place medals in the 45- and 55-pound weight classes, respectively.
Also competing at the state tournament were Thailer Morrison, 9, in the 70-pound weight class and Hunter Duncan, 12, in the 140-pound division.
Matches were contested over two days.
Youngsters are welcome to the join the club when wrestling starts back up in November. Team members practice at the Middletown High School multi-use room. Call Kimo Morrison at 277-0930 for more information.
In other club news, Trevor Morrison finished eighth in the recent Reno World Championships.
