In 2002, I filed a lawsuit that alleged childhood sexual abuse by a priest in Alameda County. The immediate reaction from some readers of that local paper was the same that I read here: “No way, not Father X”.
Well, over time the revelations came out that other alter boys had also been abused by him, and that before he came to the parish at which he groomed and groped me, he”d been arrested and convicted of a sex crime against a minor. The bishop who moved him to our parish knew of his arrest and conviction but didn”t tell the parish. My suit prevailed.
I suggest that all of Ted Oswald”s supporters allow the justice system to unfold. By making so much noise now in his defense, you might be scaring other victims into silence. In addition, you really don”t know what has gone on in Oswald”s private life. We need to truth to come out, no matter how painful it is for his friends to read.
