KELSEYVILLE — With school out and summer vacation here, it is once again time for the start of Kelseyville”s popular “Kicking in the Country” street dances. The series starts with a bang next Thursday, June 19, with a Battle of the Bands featuring Lake County”s best teen bands.

Thanks to music chairman Bobby Rowe, these young musicians will have an opportunity to play in front of their family and friends, plus the chance to win a top prize of $600 and a runner-up prize of free recording studio time.

Main Street will be closed down for the contest. A stage will be at one end and a bouncy house for children will be at the other end, so everyone can have a good time.

This kick-off event will be fun for all ages and according to Rowe, spectators will be impressed with the young talent from right here in Lake County.

Rowe has recruited Robert Callahan, marketing manager at Robinson Rancheria Resort & Casino; Gary Dickson, publisher of Lake County Publishing; and Paul Buttitta of Earmite Music to be judges for the battle of the bands.

Many downtown businesses will be open late and the Kelseyville Elementary School PTA will offer food, sodas and cotton candy. Major sponsors are Kelseyville Lumber, Robinson Rancheria Resort & Casino, Riviera Foods, Earmite Music and Ferndale Resort & Marina/WaterColor Restaurant.

Enjoy the June full moon evening in Kelseyville with fun, food, family, friends and good entertainment. The battle of the bands contest will begin at 7:30 p.m.
