LAKEPORT — Noel McCormack Jr. won the Late Models main event and Gary Lowblad and Dylan Rose also took home first-place finishes Saturday night at the Lakeport Speedway.
Mike Lovell sat the fast time in the Late Models division (12.081 seconds) and also won the trophy dash, but he could do no better than 14th in the feature race won by McCormack Jr., who beat Kevin Ostern, Bill Binns, Jimmy Stillman and Allen Gibney to the finish line.
Rounding out the top 10 finishers in the main event were Dan Knight, Jarrod Beddow, Sean Caturegli, Forrest Kuecker and Barent Ackerston.
In the modifieds division, Lowblad won the main event in front of Danny Bishop, McCormack Jr., Sean Sweeney and Richie Potts.
Heat winners were Rick Tomilla in the first heat and Bishop in the second heat. Mark Marek captured the trophy dash and Mike Smithhart set the fast time (12.526).
In the bomber class, Roman Rose set a new track record with a fast time of 14.388. Gary Collins won the trophy dash and Jimmy Sorrells and George Abella won the heat races.
In the bomber main event, Dylan Rose took the checkered flag in front of Shawn Kennedy, Bob Mook, Collins, Robert Byers, Casey Saunders, Sorrels, Andy Norton, Jon Waner and points leader Roman Rose.
Racing returns to the Lakeport Speedway on Friday and Saturday for the annual Deake Lyndall Memorial. NASCAR driver Derek Thorn, originally of Lakeport, will be part of the action as he leads his “Racin” For A Cure” team to the quarter-mile paved oval. Racin” For A Cure is a fundraiser for (Lou Gehrig”s Disease) and all proceeds from donations and Thorn merchandise sales this weekend go to battle the disease. Lakeport Speedway also will donate 10 percent of all front-gate ticket sales to ALS.
