MIDDLETOWN — The annual Middletown Days celebration got off without a hitch. The two-day event, held Saturday and Sunday provided country-style fun for the whole family and memories galore for the scrapbook.

This year”s parade theme was “Beneath These Western Skies.” Jim and Hettie Hendrickson were privileged to serve as grand marshals of the parade.

“We were honored to do it. The parade has always been the highlight of our year since moving here 20 years ago,” said Hettie Hendrickson. “There are a lot of other people in town who really deserve (being grand marshal). We were a little embarrassed but the grandchildren loved it!”

The grand marshals followed a color guard consisting of Wayne Jackson, Fred Denno and Dave Holley, who rode matching mules to open the parade. Pioneer Award recipient Frank Parriott joined the procession on his horse and was followed by this year”s royal court consisting of Queen Shelby Egger, Princess Cheyenne Emerson and princess runner-up Grace Pachie.

Eric Patrick served as announcer and David Neft provided musical accompaniment.
