In the Spring of 1999, the Clear Lake Riviera Community Association board made the fateful decision to hire an outside management company. It didn”t work. The operation was not successful, however, the patient has not died.
For approximately 7 years, two outside companies nearly “managed” the Association into oblivion. They had no connection to members, they were inept, secretive, and arrogant. Various boards of directors rubber stamped their directives and inaccurate and misleading financial statements. They ended security, community maintenance, the Ed Mack Awards, the Rivieran and our community spirit. They hired lawyers to rewrite all our governing documents, none of which saw light of day, and a cost of more than $30,000 in fees.
In 2007, board members led by Alan Siegel and Sid Donnell, ended the management contract CLRCA had, and once again, the Association will be directed and managed by our volunteer, resident board members and Association employees.
The results of actions taken over the past seven years in the name of CLRCA will take time to heal. But they can be healed if enough people care and make their thoughtful contributions.
