Clearlake Police Department (CPD) responded to a disturbance at York”s Trailer Park on Old Highway 53 around 9:33 p.m. Monday, June 30. Shortly after arrival, a request for officer assistance was dispatched.
Lake County Sheriff”s Office and additional CPD units responded.
Witnesses reported hearing five to six shots from an automatic weapon following the arrival of officers. Margarita Mora reported that her 23-year-old nephew was shot unintentionally during the incident. The man was upright and conscious when he was transported from the scene by Lake County Fire District personnel. A second unidentified party is believed to be deceased according to witnesses surrounding the perimeter of the scene.
CPD Detective Mike Hermann confirmed that the shooting incident did involve an officer of the Clearlake Police Department; however, no further information was available as of press time Tuesday afternoon.
