What is the state of ?One nation under God”?
As our country is once again celebrating our freedoms and independence on this July 4th week, how are we, “As one nation under God” going to reflect and consider our responsibilities to uphold the moral and natural laws? Unfortunately, our demise began when the courts abolished prayer in our public schools, followed by a diabolical ruling to murder the innocent unborn through abortion, and most recently over riding the public vote to uphold marriage by two states granting same sex marital unions.
The blessings we as a nation once enjoyed are rapidly dissipating. Consider the sneaky terrorist attack of 9/11/01, the recent ravages of hurricanes, floods and fires and loss of life, property and food resources. It may be well for our congress, our courts and our society to reflect upon the faith and wisdom of our founding fathers.
Our first president stated in his inaugural address the following: “The propitious smiles of heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which heaven itself has ordained.”
And the following statement included in one of Thomas Jefferson”s talks in 1781, which include: “I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever.” Our great president Abraham Lincoln reminds us: ” it behooves us then to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.”
In view of our nation”s spiritual decline, our daily resolve should consider and be in accordance with 2nd Chronicles, 7:14.
