UPDATED:

The National Weather Service is forecasting near-record to record temperatures over interior Northern California. Wednesday is expected to be the hottest day with a gradual decrease in heat through the remainder of the week. More significant cooling is expected over the weekend as a strong high pressure weakens over the area.

The NWS has issued an excessive-heat warning in effect through 5 p.m. Thursday, July 10. An excessive-heat warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur.

The NWS is advising people to drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors, especially the elderly.
