CLEARLAKE– Emergency response was requested Wednesday morning following a report of an unconscious male on the docks at Redbud Park. Efforts to revive the man on scene were unsuccessful. The victim was transported to Adventist Health Redbud Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

“Apparently he was fishing with a friend and had some type of medical emergency,” reported CPD Detective Mike Hermann. “Unfortunately he passed away.”

The victim is described as a male adult in his 50”s. Detective Hermann said that the man and his wife were visiting the area from San Francisco.

Units were dispatched at approximately 9:21 a.m. Officers of the Clearlake Police Department were first to arrive on scene and reportedly began CPR procedures in effort to revive the man. Lake County Fire Protection District responded with two medical units and took over CPR efforts upon arrival.

“When we got there CPD had CPR in progress,” said Paramedic Ric Richie. “We continued the efforts but were unsuccessful in our attempt to revive the victim.”

Richie added that personnel did receive information that the victim had been diabetic.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Redbud Community Hospital where a doctor pronounced his death.
