LOWER LAKE — An early morning vehicle collision sent three to the hospital Thursday. One victim required aerial transport for major injuries sustained in the head-on collision.

According to a report issued by the Clear Lake area California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 6:30 a.m. on Seigler Canyon Road, three-miles west of State Route 29.

Michael Rhode, 40, of Clearlake was reportedly traveling westbound in a 2003 Ford Taurus as Barbara Dwyer, 36, of Cobb, was driving eastbound. Rhode lost control of his vehicle, reportedly due to a medical condition, and struck the 2003 Honda Civic that Dwyer was driving, head-on in the eastbound lane.

The impact caused Dwyer”s vehicle to travel off the roadway. It came to rest in a creek bed approximately 15 feet off the road.

Dwyer sustained major injuries in the collision and was transported via REACH air ambulance to UC Davis Medical Center. At the time the release was composed, it was unknown if her injuries were life-threatening. Dwyer”s passenger, Sharon Anderson, of Cobb, who was riding in the front seat, was also injured in the collision and transported by Kelseyville Fire ambulance to Sutter Lakeside Hospital for moderate injuries.

Rhodes was also transported to Sutter Lakeside for moderate injuries.

Officer Dallas Richey is investigating the incident.
