CLEARLAKE — A sewage spill that occurred on Wednesday in the Clearlake Village area has been cleaned up. Special Districts Administrator Mark Dillinger reported on Friday that little more than 500 gallons of sewage overflowed as a result of grease build up and debris in the line.
“We have cleaned everything up on our side of things,” Dillinger reported, adding that Special Districts has completed all regulatory requirements related to the incident and notification has been sent to all the proper agencies.
“Whenever an ounce of material gets spilled we have to report it to a number of agencies,” Dillinger said. “Lake County Environmental Health has been notified and they are investigating the incident.”
The spill happened in the area of the Elks Lodge. The Elks have cancelled Friday night dinners scheduled for Friday, July 18 and July 25.
