LOWER LAKE — A child was flown out from an area near Spruce Grove Road Monday evening following a vehicle collision. The boy was reportedly riding a 2005 50cc motorcycle when he collided with the front of a 1998 Dodge Ram truck.

The boy, 8, is a resident of Lower Lake, according to a report issued by the Clear Lake area California Highway Patrol. The report states that he was riding the motorcycle northbound in the southbound lane on a blind corner where Spruce Grove meets Riata Road. He was traveling at an unknown rate of speed.

The truck he collided with was being driven by Annette Holley, 44, of Lower Lake. Holley was reportedly pulling a horse trailer southbound in the proper lane of travel at a speed of approximately 25 mph when the motorcycle collided with the front of her truck. The incident took place on Riata Road about .4 miles south of Spruce Grove Road.

The boy was transported via CalStar air ambulance to UC Davis Medical Center because of his age and a complaint of pain to the abdomen. According to the report, the boy also suffered lacerations to the face.

Lake County Fire Protection District medical units responded to the incident following dispatch at 5:54 p.m. Medical personnel stabilized the victim and requested aerial transport from the scene. Medical units reportedly cleared the scene at 6:14 p.m.
