UPDATED:

I am in receipt of the water conservation notice from Lake County Special Districts. I understand their need to mass mail such an important missive, yet I feel that they might want to target larger entities than single family dwellings. Their wording is distressing.

They don”t say “conserve” or “cutback”, they say “refrain from outdoor watering”. This notice should be aimed at the plethora of vineyard owners that have infiltrated Lake County in the past 10-15 years.

It should be directed to greedy contractors that have over?built and now have to rent their houses to people that don”t care about their neighborhoods. This letter should be directed to the people that are building home sub-divisions throughout Lake County.

Lastly, this notice should be sent to the Board of Supervisors that apparently has no idea how to handle population growth.

Also, why after so many years, does Lake County still apportion water to Yolo County? This was a deal made many years ago by some greasy-palmed statesmen. That agreement, to this day, is appalling.

In example of renters, I live in the Riviera Heights subdivision. There is a landlord here that rents a single family dwelling as a duplex. There are numerous people coming and going. They have a commercial sized swamp cooler that leaks water constantly, it sounds like a waterfall.

In example of vineyards and orchards, I can drive down Soda Bay Road on any given day and see water just gushing forth from their pipes, flooding the entire area. I have even seen this happen when it is raining. I have seen vineyards watered overhead when it is raining.

As for the politicos of this county, why are they allowing sub?divisions to be built along the lake, Northshore of Lakeport and other areas?

Our roads are in deplorable condition and now you determine water is at a premium. Why are they allowing new growth? My guess is because they are too damn dense to think forward, and they have enough Crisco into which they smear their greedy hands.

Take a look at my water bill over the last 18 years I have lived here. I live in a SFD with four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. Does my water bill reflect high usage? I am a conserver of water. I do have gardens, but I am frugal with water. I realize what a precious commodity water is. I don”t have a pool, I don”t have a hot tub. When I have had to replace toilets, washers, etc., I replace with conservative items.

I do however; appreciate the water Lake County Special Districts has delivered since Riviera Heights agreed to be a part of the Soda Bay project. It has improved my quality of life and I no longer have to schlep drinking water from other sources or replace my toilet inner workings as frequently.
