LOWER LAKE — A generous donation was made to the Lower Lake Cemetery District following an article that appeared in the Friday edition of the Lake County Record-Bee.
Judy Thein, a member of the district”s board of directors, informed the newsroom on Friday that a couple came into the cemetery office and purchased a total of eight plots and donated them to local veterans.
According to Thein, the couple had read the Record-Bee article. The article explained that the cemetery”s veterans” section is full and that the district is looking to work with local veterans” groups in seeking a grant to pay for additional plots for veterans.
Thein said after reading the article, the couple said they decided to purchase and donate plots for the veterans. The husband, Thein said, was ready to buy six but the wife wanted to buy two more and the couple ended up buying a total of eight plots.
