LAKEPORT — Mark Marek, Don Pressler, Mike Rose and Roman Rose scored main event victories Saturday night during racing action at the Lakeport Speedway.
One of the night”s more exciting finishes came in the bomber main event where points leader Roman Rose edged out points runner-up George Abella by a fender. The race finished under a green-white-checkered flag. George Lovrin came in third, Robert Byers was fourth and Bob Mook came in fifth. Rounding out the top 10 were Richard Bray, Dylan Rose, Gary Collins, Kevin Ostern and Brad Laird (complete race results and point standings are on Page A10).
Rose set the fast time (14.409 seconds), Collins won the trophy dash and Ostern and Abella won the heat races.
In other action Saturday, points leader Marek beat out Noel McCormack Jr. in the modified main event. David Furia, Charles Pruett and Bob Strauss were next across the finish line, and Mike Linnell, Rick Tommila, Shelby Helm, Danny Bishop and Ostern rounded out the top 10.
Marek posted the fast time (12.564) during qualifying, Strauss topped the field in the trophy dash, and Tommila and Bishop were the heat winners.
In the mini-stock main event, Pressler beat Alex Andrews, David Coyne, Marcus Hatfield and Robert Schmidt to the finish line. Also placing in the top 10 were David Aceves, Jessica Aceves, Jason Pratt, Fred Schmidt and fast qualifier Dale Balmer (13.700).
Andrews won the trophy dash and David Aceves and Hatfield won the heat races.
In the street stock main event, only three cars finished, led by Mike Rose. Mike Bray came in second and David Jones was third.
Rose also had the fast time (13.72), Jones won the trophy dash and Chris Salmina came in first in the only heat race.
Racing returns to the Lakeport Speedway this Saturday night when the Airport Auto Broker Late Models and the Nostalgic Race Car Group join the modifieds, mini-stocks and bombers.
