WILLITS — Several Lake County Channel Cats swimmers brought home first-place finishes last weekend at the Willits Otters Swim Meet in Willits.
“It was a great team-building experience for us,” Channel Cats head coach Agustin Merodio said. “Everyone swam great … earning a lot of ribbons and improving on their personal-best times.”
“The team has never earned so many first place finishes!” team president Jennifer Hanson added.
First-place finishers were Sarah Merodio, Matteo Merodio, Holden Braider, Guy Conger, Claire Plante, Allison Hanson, Kyra Rudnick, Evan Thompson, Jeffrey Mulligan and Catherine Braider.
Establishing their first “B” times were Chelo Lundquist-Krag and Nicole Hanson.
The highest time achievable at the Willits meet was “BB” and four Channel Cats achieved this level. They were Thompson, Nadine Bradley, Jeffrey Mulligan and Matteo Merodio.
Added Merodio on the performance of his 32 swimmers at the meet, “We are always proud when swimmers can shave some seconds off their personal-best times.”
Next up for the Channel Cats is Family Bingo Night where they hope to raise funds to support the city pool. Family Bingo Night takes place Sept. 5 beginning at 5 p.m. at the Lakeport Senior.
