CLEAR LAKE RIVIERA — Steven Russell Mitten, 18, of Kelseyville was arrested late Saturday night for driving under the influence of alcohol with enhanced charges for causing bodily injury. Mitten was released into the custody of California Highway Patrol (CHP) after being treated for injuries sustained in a head-on collision.

According to a press release issued by the Clear Lake area CHP, at approximately 9:55 p.m. Saturday, Mitten was traveling eastbound on Soda Bay Road east of Montezuma Way in the Clear Lake Riviera. Peter Green, 43, of Clearlake, was driving westbound on Soda Bay.

Mitten, who was driving a 1990 Jeep Wrangler, reportedly crossed over the double-yellow lines and collided head-on with the 1993 Mercury taxi cab that Green was driving.

Green sustained major injuries in the collision and was transported to Sutter Lakeside Hospital. He was later transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

Mitten was transported via REACH air ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital where was treated and released into CHP custody.

Mitten was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested on felony DUI charges.

The incident resulted in traffic congestion for those attempting to leave the Matchbox 20 concert that was held at Konocti Field Amphitheater. Subsequently, traffic leaving the venue was rerouted west on Soda Bay Road.
