CLEARLAKE — Two more individuals have joined the race for city council. According to City Clerk Melissa Swanson all those interested in gaining a seat in this November”s election who have taken out papers, have completed all requirements for candidacy.
Incumbents Curt Giambruno, Joyce Overton and Judy Thein will be seeking reelection and have submitted the required paperwork. Estella Creel, James M. Reed and Bill Shields have reportedly acquired the signatures necessary for their names to appear on the November ballot as well.
Signatures acquired by all the candidates have been verified, Swanson reported.
The write-in period begins Monday, Sept. 8. If a person wishes to run for council as a write-in candidate, he or she is still required to obtain no less than 20, no more than 30, signatures to qualify for the election. Those signatures must be submitted the City Clerk by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21.
