LAKEPORT — On Saturday, Aug. 30, the Lake County Arts Council will once again host “Art in the Park” at Library Park in Lakeport. Whether you are 7 or 70, this is an opportunity for artists and would-be artists to create a masterpiece in chalk. Let your creative child draw on one or more of the squares of the walkways while listening to musicians performing in the Gazebo.

Phil Mathewson and Friends will bring hand drumming and interpretive dancing to the park from 9a.m. to noon. Participants should bring drums, shakers, tambourines, etc and a chair. No drum? No problem! Use an empty coffee can with a top, a five-gallon bucket or other improvised instruments. This is an interactive event everyone is welcome to participate. Call Phil Mathewson for information at 263-3391.

From noon until 3 p.m., enjoy the great sounds of Dan Meyer and the Misdemeanors of Jazz. Adding to the day”s festivities will be artists demonstrating their talents and exhibiting their work on the lawns surrounding the gazebo.

For more information, please contact the Main Street Gallery at 263-6658 or Shelby at 263-1871.
