EUREKA — The Mendocino Eagles made a bit of college history on Saturday by beating College of the Redwoods 5-0 to win the College of the Redwoods Tournament in Eureka.

It”s the first tournament win in the program”s history.

Taylor Daly scored twice and Kymber Denevi, Brittany Castaneda and Yesenia Diaz added goals as the Eagles improved to 3-0 on the season. Bernie Segura assisted on both of Daly”s scores.

Candy Diener, formerly of Clear Lake High, recorded the shutout in the net for Mendocino, which opened tournament play on Friday with a 2-1 win over Shasta College. Castaneda and Segura scored Mendocino”s goals.

Mendocino returns to action today against Canada College in Redwood City at 3 p.m.
