UKIAH — Mendocino College hosted a three-team football scrimmage on Saturday in Ukiah.

College of Marin and College of the Siskyous joined the Eagles in a round-robin scrimmage, with each team running 50 offensive plays against the other”s defense.

“It was good to see our kids compete,” Mendocino College head coach Tom Gang said. “We have a lot to work on but all in all, our kids really performed well.”

Mendocino, which won the Bay Valley Conference championship last season, is competing in the Mid-Empire Conference this season. The Eagles will play Sacramento City College, Feather River College, American River College and College of the Siskyous.

“Mendocino College has always competed in the Bay Valley Conference,” Gang said. “To have the opportunity to move up and play in a stronger conference will be a great challenge and we will strive to produce results.”

The Eagles” non-conference schedule features Santa Rosa Junior College, College of the Redwoods, San Jose City College, Hartnell College, Shasta College and Los Medanos College.

Mendocino opens its season at Hartnell College on Saturday at 3 p.m.
