CLEARLAKE ? A boy, approximately 10-years-old, ran into the side of a truck on his motorcycle Thursday afternoon around 4:25 p.m.
The boy, who was wearing his helmet, suffered only minor injuries.
Barbara Nicholas, 71, of Willits reported that she had been traveling northbound on Phillips Avenue when she spotted the boy on his 70cc KC Power Sport motorcycle approaching Phillips from the east where the street crosses with 38th Avenue.
“He looked like he was going to stop but he didn”t,” Nicholas said. “He ran right into us. Thank goodness we weren”t going very fast. Not that you should go very fast on this street anyways, but we had just turned (onto Phillips) two blocks before (the scene).”
The boy”s stepfather, James Tate, said that the boy should be alright.
“He had his helmet on and I think he”s going to be okay,” Tate said. “He wasn”t supposed to be over here. A friend of ours was following this lady and said that he didn”t even stop. He hit her.”
While medical personnel from the Lake County Fire Protection District attended the victim and Clearlake Police officers investigated the scene, Nicholas” dog managed to escape from her Chevy S-10 pickup. “He jumped out of the truck,” Nicholas said. “He seldom does that but I think it all scared him.”
Nicholas” dog is a Chihuahua/Jack Russell terrier mix. It is black and white with a tail that curls toward his back. He answers to the name Willie. “He barks a lot but he doesn”t bite,” said Nicholas”s daughter Shannon Nicholas, who was riding with her.
Anyone who finds the lost dog is asked to call Shannon Nicholas at (707) 513-5254.
