GEYSERVILLE — Leopoldo Arroyo scored twice and Leo Olivarez added a goal and an assist to give Scott Hopkins a victory in his Lower Lake High School coaching debut, 4-1 over the Geyserville Bronchos in a non-league varsity boys” soccer game Wednesday afternoon in Geyserville.
“I thought they played pretty decent,” Hopkins said of the Trojans. “We were bunching up a little bit in the midfield, but overall it was a pretty good effort.”
Lower Lake (1-0) substituted early and often against the Bronchos, both to give its bench players some experience and to rest the starters because of temperatures in the high 90s.
“We”ve been practicing in the morning and it was pretty hot over there,” Hopkins said.
Rodrigo Zuniga also scored for Lower Lake and Chris Chapman had an assist.
Lower Lake returns to action Wednesday in Willits at 4:30 p.m.
