LOWER LAKE — Did you ever want to act? Did you ever think to yourself, “I think I could do that…It would be fun, but I don”t know how to start. I would probably be too embarrassed.”

Well, here”s your chance to put all that aside and give it a shot. After all, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Miley Cyrus all had to start somewhere…

Martin (Marty) Squires (a man with a masters degree in acting!) and The Lake County Repertory Theater Company (LCRT) are providing an opportunity for just such a start. Marty is a pro. You have seen him most recently as Perchick in “Fiddler on the Roof” and Laurie in “Little Women” and, even though he a young man, he has 20 years of acting experience on the stage and screen! Marty is willing to share his expertise and love of the theater with all of us..

LCRT is hoping to build its base of performers and theater lovers with ongoing workshops in theater craft. This coming Saturday will be the first in a series of theater learning experiences in which the community is welcome and there are no strings attached. It”s just for fun. With other newcomers, you will discover the tips and tricks that actors use to create a character, show emotion, become older or younger…or conquer stage fright. Sound good?

The workshop will take place at the Weaver Auditorium, located in The School House Museum in Lower Lake, Saturday, Sept. 13, at 12:00-2:00. Bring a a sack lunch or snack and wear loose, comfy clothes. Sodas and waters will be provided and the charge is only $5 at the door. Come on! What have you got to lose? (Didn”t you always want to try it?)
