SAN FRANCISCO — Mendocino College”s defense logged its third straight shutout, but the Eagles also were held without a goal as they tied San Francisco City College 0-0 in women”s soccer action on Tuesday in chilly San Francisco.
“It was a very tough game, extremely cold,” Mendocino College assistant coach Pat Hart said.
While keeper Candy Diener, stopper Megan Daly and sweeper Allyson Brown were instrumental in shutting down City College”s attack, the Eagles had a hard time getting untracked on offense as well and the loss of forward Bernie Segura to a knee injury in the first half didn”t help matters, according to Hart.
“She got tangled up with another girl,” Hart said. “She was really in pain.”
Mendocino (5-1-1) did apply pressure on City College”s defense the final 10 minutes.
“We came close four times and had one shot go off the woodwork,” Hart said.
The Eagles stay on the road Friday to play College of the Redwoods in Eureka.
