KELSEYVILLE — Kid Rock took the stage with the feel of a church revival, opening the Saturday night show at Konocti Harbor Resort & Spa with a new release titled “Rock ?n” Roll Jesus.”

The Detroit rock/rap/country singer serenaded a slightly surly crowd, the majority of whom were men donning droopy jeans, wife-beater style tank tops and exposing various styles of body art.

“I know times are tough, so I want to give special thanks to each and every one of you for spending your hard-earned money to come and see me,” he said to the anxious crowd.

The packed venue responded with screams and hands in the air as the singer peppered his own hits with injections of other popular songs like the Dukes of Hazzard theme, followed by songs inappropriate to share in this paper, or even to identify by title.

Kid Rock played all of the hits including, “Cowboy,” “Picture” with a back-up singer who looked and sounded very much like Sheryl Crow, “Lowlife,” and the popular ballad “Only God Knows Why.”

Kid Rock kept a peaceful feel to the show by encouraging fans to get along.

“You may not have everything in common with the people around you, but one thing you all have in common is that everyone”s here to hear the music and have a good time. So turn around and say hello and slap five to someone you don”t know,” he said.

Kid Rock was joined for a few songs including “Walk This Way” and “Tricky,” by Rev Run formerly of Run D M C.

More than 4,000 fans attended, including scores from San Francisco and Sacramento who attend the shows at this venue regularly.
