UPDATED:

John McCain said, “I strongly oppose government regulation of free market enterprise.” Now he says he”s for “Strong regulatory oversight of Wall Street.” Despite those contradictions, he employs 177 Wall Street lobbyists as aides, policy advisors, and fundraisers. Among them was Phil Gramm who almost single-handedly delivered us the Enron debacle and the sub-prime mortgage crisis – all in the name of deregulation.

John McCain has been a consistent supporter of deregulation for the last 26 years. Now he says we need what? Regulation of Wall Street? Your a day late and a dollar short Mr. McCain. The damage is already done.

John McCain isn”t telling the truth about Barrack Obama”s tax cuts either. Mr. McCain has said time and again Obama will raise your taxes. The truth is Obama”s plan would cut taxes for Americans earning less than $250K a year. McCain”s “plan” is to continue the Bush tax cuts. He voted againt those tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans two times but now he says he supports them. Uh-oh, flip-flop.

In fact, John McCain has voted in right in step with George Bush 90 percent of the time. Can there be any doubt what he will do if elected? Doing more of the same and expecting different results does not mean you”re a maverick. It means you don”t understand economics – as McCain himself has openly admitted. It means you don”t get it.

“Drill baby drill,” was the mantra at the Republican convention, but drilling for more oil will never lower the price at the pump. It will take a good 15 years for that oil to hit the market. What will the price of crude be in 15 years? Care to venture a guess? Also, oil pipelines and rigs damaged by hurricane Ike delivered oil in the seawater to inland Texas. So much for the safety of offshore drilling.

Then there”s Govenor Palin. She said she would cooperate with the inquiry into the Troopergate scandal that was set up by a bi-partisan committee. Last week the committee issued 13 subpoenas including one to her husband. Last Monday a Palin campaign spokesman said she would be “Unlikely to cooperate with it.”

What caused her to change her mind? Could it be because she said she asked Walt Monegan to fire Trooper Whooten for insubordination while her attorney, Thomas Van Flein, filed papers saying she fired him for failing to address the alcohol abuse problem in Alaska?

Mr. Monegan says that he was fired right after refusing to fire Trooper Whooten, who was Palin”s brother-in-law. At the time Trooper Whooten was in a child custody battle with Palin”s sister. Apparently, we won”t find out if Palin abused her power until after the election. Why is that exactly?

It surprises me that Republicans would even dare to mention flip-flops. John McCain has over 70 flip-flops completely documented on the website, http://www.bi30.org/wordpress/flipflopper.htm. Ironically, the source of many of this flip-flops are his own words!

Try using Google to check out McCain”s flip-flop on the $470 billion Future Combat System. Or look into his flip-flop on the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac bail-outs. Or go to the Congressional Record and check out his votes against extended medical care for Iraq veterans or his vote against adequate military hardware for our troops in Iraq and Afganistan.

John McCain holds the record as the most-absent Senator at voting time. He was right when he said he missed voting on the Ledbetter Fair Play Act – he wasn”t there. This bill would have made it easier for women seeking equal pay for equal work. McCain said at one of his town hall meetings that he would have voted against the bill if he had been in Congress at the time. Yet during a recent speech in Wisconsin he said, “I am a strong supporter of equal pay for women.” Which is it Mr. McCain?

John McCain is the undisputed all-time king of flip-floppers. All you have to do is pay attention to what he says, or use your computer to get the information. A vote for change certainly isn”t a vote for the McCain Palin ticket – that would be a vote for business-as-usual.
