LAKEPORT — Back by popular demand the Golden Follies returns to Lake County to present “Let”s Go To The Movies” at the Soper-Reese Community Theatre with a 7:30 performance on Saturday, Oct. 4, and a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, Oct. 5.

Today”s seniors are some of the most active and energetic people around, and this Las Vegas style dance troupe know how to kick up their heels. More than 50 women from the ages of 55 to 80 will delight you with their quick paced routines in glittery costumes and magnificent feathered headdresses designed by dance instructors Susan Bostwick and Diane Tembey-Stawicki.

Bostwick and Tembey-Stawicki draw women from Fremont, Hayward, Antioch, Castro Valley, Dublin and Sacramento to weekly instructions at their dance studio and perform as the Golden Follies. A smaller review cast performs 10 to 15 shows a year at casinos, private parties, charitable events and care facilities.

Bostwick and Tembey-Stawicki, along with a portion of the cast, recently performed with the Oakland Symphony in their Follies show featuring, among others, Rita Moreno. The sisters are no strangers to the stage, having appeared as opening acts for such big names as Wayne Newton, Goldie Hawn and the Pointer Sisters and serve as producers, choreographers, directors, and costume designers.

Lake County Arts Council”s President, Sandi Ciradelli said, “We are pleased that this dynamic group is willing to give of their time and energy to present this exciting show to benefit the Arts Council and the Soper-Reese Community Theatre, and we are expecting a full house for each performance.”

General admission tickets at $15 are available at the Main Street Gallery and Catfish Books in Lakeport and Wild About Books in Clearlake. Reserved seating is available at the theater box office from 2 to 6 p.m. on Thursdays or by calling 263-0577, using a credit card. A seating chart can by viewed by visiting www.soperreesetheatre.com.
