1. Downtown Ktown Basketball Challenge is Oct. 11

KELSEYVILLE ? The third annual Downtown Ktown 3-on-3 Basketball Challenge takes place Oct. 11 in downtown Kelseyville. The challenge begins at 8 a.m. and runs until about 6 p.m.

All proceeds benefit Kelseyville High School”s music and athletic programs. The cost is $60 for youth teams and $100 for adult teams.

The 3-on-3 challenge consists of nine age group divisions, 10 to 50-plus years of age. The divisions are split up into youth, boys and girls, and adults, men and co-ed. Each team can consist of up to five players and will be organized in a bracket formation. Each team will have at least three games with additional games depending on turnout.

2. Konocti Junior Tennis meets Saturdays in K”ville

KELSEYVILLE ? The Konocti Junior Tennis Program meets Saturdays at 11 a.m. at the Gard Street School tennis courts in Kelseyville, weather permitting.

Come out and play matches or just learn to play. Racquets are provided if needed. The program is free for Lake County boys and girls ages 8-18. Beginners, intermediate and advanced players are welcome.

3. Dominguez, Thomas win Buckingham flights

BUCKINGHAM ? The Buckingham Women”s Golf Club recently played a game of low net on the front nine at Buckingham Golf and Country Club.

Flight results were as follows:

First flight ? Maxine Dominguez, first; Jackie Dufrain, second; Jean Wawak, third.

Second flight ? Donna Thomas, first; Georgie Slevin, second; Bobbie Perez and Hank Kistner, third (tie).

Third flight ? Karen Bengard and Leanne White, first (tie).

Bengard chipped in on the second hole and Thomas chipped in on No. 8.

Dominguez had the day”s low gross round and also won low putts.

4. Lake County Amateur is Oct. 4-5 at Adams

COBB MOUNTAIN ? The 26th annual Lake County Amateur Golf Championship sponsored by Dufrain Publishing is scheduled for Oct. 4-5 at Adams Springs Golf Course on Cobb Mountain.

The $95 entry fee includes two rounds of golf, a Saturday luncheon at Adams Springs, the prize fund, trophies and tournament tee prizes.

The Amateur offers divisions for men”s scratch and net golfers as well as flights for seniors and junior golfers.

5. 40-9ers play low net tourney at Hidden Valley

HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE ? Members of the 40-9ers Women”s Golf Club played a low net tournament on Thursday at Hidden Valley Lake Golf Course.

Flight results were as follows:

First flight ? Joy Ryan and Roberta Villnow, 38 (tie); Linda Herndon, 40; Carol Brossier, 41.

Second flight ? Diane Miller, 37; Hank Kistner and Kit Hoss, 38 (tie); Suzie Sullivan, 40.

Third flight ? Helen Scroggins, 35; Gwen DeRosa and Floydean Greenlow, 43 (tie).

Phyllis Cox chipped in on No. 7 and Scroggins chipped in on No. 8.

6. Youth boxing sign-ups open Oct. 7 in K”ville

KELSEYVILLE ? Students between the ages of 9-18 who have passed a physical exam are eligible to participate in a youth boxing program sponsored by the Lake County Sheriff”s Activity League.

Workout sessions are held twice each week. Competitive boxing is optional. Sign-ups take place Oct. 7 beginning at 4 p.m. at the Kelseyville Presbyterian Church Youth Hall.

The Lake County Sheriff”s Activity League depends on volunteer board members and volunteer activity leaders. If you have a special interest or skill that you would like to share with the youth of Lake County, call Dave Borjon at 279-1050. Volunteers can specify the day, time and duration of the activity they wish to lead. Volunteers can also stipulate the number and ages of children who can sign up.

7. CLHS ”98 championship team to hold reunion

LAKEPORT ? A 10-year reunion for Clear Lake High School”s 1998 North Coast Section Class A championship football team will be held during the Cardinals” homecoming weekend on Oct. 24 against Cloverdale.

Activities include a parade and dinner plus the 2008 Cardinals” homecoming game against the Cloverdale Eagles.
