UPPER LAKE — All three games were close, but the Kelseyville Knights won each one on Tuesday night as they beat the Upper Lake Cougars 27-25, 25-20, 26-24 in a North Central League I interlock varsity volleyball match at Upper Lake.

“They were good games, it would have been fun to watch if I was just a fan,” Upper Lake coach Sandy Coatney said. “We played well, but we didn”t quite get that extra point when we needed it.”

Kelseyville coach Donelle McCallister said she was just happy to get out of town with a victory.

“It was ugly,” McCallister said of the Knights” overall effort. “Everyone was off. It was not the best game we”ve played.”

One standout for the Knights, according to McCallister, was Skyler Olsen.

“Her serve receiving was absolutely awesome,” McCallister said. “Thank God. We really needed it.”

Kaitlyn Goff”s nine kills led the Knights. Annie Macias had six kills and Kendra Schewegerl added five.

Upper Lake standouts were Jackie Lovrin with nine kills and five digs, Hannah Johnson with five kills and five aces, and Brandy Claunch with 21 assists.

Coatney also praised the play of his libero, Thon Chao.
