Far right, radical Republicans are not likely to bring about positive reform. Far left democrats probably won”t, either. People who agree to disagree but are willing to compromise are usually the ones who facilitate worthwhile change. Those who label fellow Americans who don”t agree with them as “morons, slanderers, insane and cowards,” would do well to re-read the First Amendment.

Unemployment is up. Too many American jobs have been outsourced. Our economic outlook is devastating. Iraq has a surplus, America is trillions in debt. I didn”t get this information from a blog, video game or gossip magazine but from reading, watching and listening to both conservative and liberal coverage of recent events. The people who guided and influenced Freddie and Fannie (at least one of which is a McCain campaign advisor) is a matter of public record. Sarah Palin can stand on her own meager record.

Voters will decide on election day who will lead the country and most Americans will support the winner and obey the laws of the land. As cumbersome as it has become, in my opinion American democracy is still the best form of government and the right to dissent is one of the most precious “blessings” our founding fathers left to “this great country.”

The majority of Americans, not just Alaskans, are self-reliant, patriotic and hard working. Just because I might not agree with someone”s politics, I don”t call them narrow-minded, short-sighted, poorly informed, arrogant, low-performing and prejudiced. Even though I honor our war heroes from every walk of life and many wars, I don”t intend to vote for one this time and condone a party that wraps its failures in the American flag. I am proud that in our country we are assured by the Constitution of the right to our own beliefs.
