LOWER LAKE — The Lower Lake Trojans stayed close early but gradually lost steam in the second half as the Fort Bragg Timberwolves pulled away for a 6-0 victory in a North Central League I North varsity girls” soccer game on Thursday at Lower Lake.

“It”s hard to maintain positivity when you fall that far behind,” Lower Lake coach Daniel Wieman said. “But all in all I like playing Fort Bragg. They have a nice bunch of girls and I like their coach.”

It was the NCL I North opener for Lower Lake (0-1, 1-13). Fort Bragg improved to 2-0 in league play with its second straight shutout. The Timberwolves blanked Kelseyville 1-0 on Tuesday in Fort Bragg.

Lower Lake”s offense did have opportunities, according to Wieman.

“We had some pretty good shots,” Wieman said. “But we had a hard time crossing the ball and passing the ball to take good, clean shots.”

Wieman once again gave high marks to Lower Lake keeper Katreena Galindo, who kept plenty busy stopping the majority of Fort Bragg”s shots on goal.

Lower Lake returns to action Tuesday in Kelseyville.
