LAKEPORT? Seven years ago Charlie Bruns, 34, died from a brain tumor. His parents Buzz and Jan wanted to put a street light in front of their office on Main Street in Charlie”s memory. This would mark the beginning of Lamp Posts of Life.

On Saturday 12 more lampposts were dedicated bringing the total to 47 lampposts in Lakeport.

“I”m here to honor my great-uncle. He passed away from cancer. I miss him very much. I wanted to come here and worship,” Donny Riveras, 12, of Windsor said.

Linda Brodnanski had two lampposts dedicated; one for her husband Steve and the other for Kristen, her two-month old grand-daughter.

More than 150 invited guests attended the event.

Kenny Parlet honored his father with a lamppost in front of the location where his store once was.

“My dad was a throwback to the old days. He loved his family and set the standard for a great work ethic,” he said.

A lamppost dedicated to Kyle Reynolds yielded a large portion of the Saturday crowd.

A reception and slide show at Carlos and Vinny”s followed the dedication.

Lampposts were dedicated to: Kyle Reynolds, George Petro, Clifford and Finola Cooper O”Rourke, Dr. Donald Browning, Howard Chambers, Ken Parlet, Joe and Marian SanFilippo, Donna and Allan Thomas, Baby Kristen Brodnanski, Steven Brodnanski and Lori Hagen.

For more information about the lampposts ask for Jan Bruns, executive director of the Lakeport Main Street Association at 263-8843 or at lakeportmainst@gmail.com.
