Is McCain and Obama the best the country could do?
I have heard the arguments, the debates between McCain and Obama, and to say that I am disgusted is a vast understatement. I listened, and I wondered throughout the agonizing minutes, how is it, that this magnificent nation, has been reduced to a choice between McCain and Obama?
Let us take a short historical journey into our past, say 220 years or so and try and analyze this: When this nation was young with a population some say was some three million souls, it produced fifty six men who signed the Declaration of Independence. Men such as John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. These are among the few men that in latter years developed the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Men such as John Hancock, Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Adams, Benjamin Harrison and many others. They envisioned a nation with a representative government with freedoms of religion and speech, with the ability to prohibit a government that would threaten the rights of the citizen.
I wonder where the Jeffersons, the Adams, the Franklins, the Hancocks are? How is it, when this nation boasts of a population 300 million that the very best we can find are McCain and Obama? I will state this, and again, we are not placing the very best minds of this nation in leadership positions. One only has to look at the recent past: Presidents Johnson, Carter, Nixon, Bush, Clinton, and again Bush are recent inhabitants of the White House to name a few. One must ask, are these the very best minds?
Of course they are not. They never have been the very best nor will they be historically accepted as the very best this nation produced and some will be chastised in future classrooms of this nation for their dismal leadership efforts.
I begin thinking that perhaps it is because this government is no longer a government of the people, for the people, by the people. It is a government driven and lead by one of two political philosophies. The absolute power in Washington DC, in every state capitol, in each and every local elected office is either of Democrat or Republican ideology and this folks, isn”t what our forefathers envisioned for this nation.
Remember these words: Of the people, by the people, and for the people and ask yourselves, is this the driving force of our present government? Of course not. Our government is led by greed of business and personal desires. It is a government led by special interests and this very same government has allowed the commercial entities of this nation to mire the people in debt they could never repay. It allowed simple greed of banking merchants to loot our national treasury of recently, a staggering $700 billion.
Let me put that in some sort of perspective. If you gave that amount to each and every citizen of the United States of America over the age of 21 and in possession of the right to vote, every man and woman would receive a voucher in excess of $4,000.
That is roughly what $700 billion would do, and what have we done ? with the insistence of Obama and McCain ? is to give this massive sum of money to the very people who punished and crippled the economy of this nation. How utterly foolish are these people and in less than a month, I am going to have to watch one of these fools lead this nation for four, possibly eight years!
For me ? write in the city fool or stumbling alcoholic ? I am convinced they could do no worse that the two people who will become President of the United States of America. I assure you, the 56 men who wrote and delivered the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America are rolling in their graves! God help the United States of America.
