FORT BRAGG — Fort Bragg running back Jake Cimolino scored all four of his team”s touchdowns in a 28-6 victory over the Clear Lake Cardinals in a North Central League I interlock varsity football game on Friday night in Fort Bragg.
Clear Lake (2-2-1) was able to move the ball ? the Cardinals had 324 yards of total offense ? but Cimolino did them one better by rushing for 218 yards, including TD runs of 5, 20 and 56 yards, and by returning the game-opening kickoff 90 yards for another score.
Fort Bragg (4-1) led 21-6 at the half, the Cardinals scoring with 57 seconds left in the second quarter on a 1-yard run by quarterback Ryan Richardson. The second half was scoreless until Cimolino broke loose on a 56-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter.
“We played much better than we did against Middletown (a 34-0 loss last week in Middletown), especially in the second half,” Clear Lake coach Milo Meyer said. “We just need to get it going a little bit. I”m satisfied with being 2-2-1 after five games. We have five games left and anything can happen.”
Kevin Burt and Travis Stockton spearheaded Clear Lake”s running game, Burt with 91 yards on 13 carries and Stockton with 84 yards on 15 carries.
Clear Lake didn”t turn the ball over but did force two turnovers, including Richardson”s fifth interception of the year.
Burt also had a sack.
