Don”t throw their way — Upper Lake”s Sloan Hennig and Clear Lake”s Ryan Richardson now have five interceptions on the season.
Sack attack — Middletown logged four sacks against Upper Lake. George Garcia had one of them, his fourth of the season.
Following the bouncing ball — Kelseyville and Cloverdale combined for eight turnovers Friday night in Kelseyville. There were five fumbles and three interceptions.
It”s always a pleasure — Covering a football game at St. Vincent High School is never a problem because the Petaluma school”s gate and concession workers are all so darn nice. They could give lessons.
He”s got four — Kelseyville quarterback Mike Davis had four touchdown passes on the season, not the two that were listed in the Football Friday county leaders section last week.
Bum knee, no problem — Kelseyville”s J.J. Pine ran down and sacked Cloverdale quarterback Jarod Domenichelli twice in the fourth quarter on Friday night, both times in crucial situations.
5-0 … and raring to go — The Middletown and Lower Lake junior varsity teams are 5-0 at the midway point of the season. They don”t meet until the final game of the season on Nov. 14 in Lower Lake.
Don”t see your team”s results in the paper? — Tell coach to call. No call, no story. It”s that simple.
Way too young to die — Prior to the start of the St. Vincent-Lower Lake game on Saturday, the Mustangs paid their respects to Brian Senior, a 1996 St. Vincent graduate who was recently killed in an automobile accident.
Four-score — Fort Bragg”s Jake Cimolino scored all four of the Timberwolves” TDs against Clear Lake. He rushed for 218 yards.
League openers this weekend — Middletown hosts Willits and Kelseyville calls on Fort Bragg in the NCL I North on Friday night, and Upper Lake hosts St. Helena in NCL I South action on Saturday.
Sarah Palin update — Tina Fey is smarter.
Spreading them out — St. Vincent runs the spread offense, which means the Mustangs use four receivers on just about every play.
Soccer kudos — The Middletown varsity girls are 10-1-1 through their first 12 games.
Hey, I love the confidence — Asked about his game-winning touchdown Friday night against Cloverdale, Mike Duman said, “It”s just another touchdown for the record books. There are plenty more out there for Troy Davis, for Grossner and for me.”
